Billy Casper

  1. I won major championships in three different decades. I’m in the top ten for career PGA Tour wins. I was probably the best putter of my generation. Two of my Major victories were in a playoff, one was the result of one of the most famous comebacks in golf history when I made up six strokes on the final nine holes to catch one of the true icons of our game, then beat him in an 18-hole playoff the next day. I’m the father of 11 children and have 71 grandchildren.

Billy Casper is one of the most overlooked great PGA players. With 51 PGA Tour wins he is 7th in the all-time wins list. He won 3 majors in his almost 3 decade career, 2 U.S Opens (1959 and 1966) and the Masters in 1970. His career overlapped such greats as Jack Nickalaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. With more PGA wins than Player and Trevino, he is the forgotten member of a golden age of golf.

At the height of golfing career, he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife would have 11 children (6 adopted) and a slew of grand and great-grandchildren.
