With the Cornavirus spread continuing in the United States and Internationally here is a list of how it is affecting sports.
CANCELLED
The Players Championship
the 5th most prestigious tournament in men’s golf was cancelled after a single round of play.
Professional Golf Association
the PGA has canceled all of their events through the Valero Open which was slated for April 2-5th. It is the final tournament before the Masters which is April 9-12th, the first Major of the season which has been postponed.
These cancellations including the Korn Ferry Tour and the Latin American Tour.
Conference Basketball Tournaments
All Conference Basketball Tournaments were shut down as of Thursday, March 12th. As of Monday, the 9th they had determined to play to empty crowds, but changed their mind by Thursday.
NCAA National Championship Basketball Tournament
The entire tournament was shut down and will not be played. This ends March Madness, the biggest college basketball event of the year, a month early with no crowning of a national champion in either men’s nor women’s basketball.

The following sports organizations have suspended play
The National Basketball Association (NBA)
This was the organization that launched all the massive action. They did it after two of their players tested positive for the virus. There is no timeline for the resuming of the NBA.
The Masters
The first golf Major of the year and arguably the most prestigious has been postponed. The tournament was supposed to be played April 9-12th.
ATP Tour
The international body for professional men’s tennis has said all of their events will be suspended for 6 weeks. They expect to resume play April 27th.
WTA
The women’s tennis tour has not suspended play as the men’s tour has, but they have cancelled all events that were supposed to happen the week of March 14th including The Miami Open, The Volvo Car Open, Copa Colsanitas in Bogota and the WTA 125k in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Major League Baseball
The MLB was slated to open their season on March 26th. It has been delayed at least two weeks but with no solid new Opening Day.
National Hockey League
The NHL has paused their season with no resume date yet expressed.
Major League Soccer
MLS has suspended play for 30 days.
Premier League
The major soccer organization in Europe has postponed all play until April 4th.
XFL
Unsure whether their statements denotes cancelling or suspending. They say they will not be playing their regular season games.
CONTINUING WITH EXCEPTIONS
NASCAR
NASCAR will hold it’s races in Atlanta on March 15th, but no fans will be in attendance. They have continued the no fans for the following weeks race in Homestead-Miami on the 22nd.
